Lekki półmrok. Wilgoć w powietrzu i zapach amoniaku. Pobrzękują łańcuchy. Wiatr hula przez stłuczone szyby. Lata świetności to gospodarstwo ma daleko za sobą.

Stefan zastyga w bezruchu w rogu obory. Gospodarz owija mu pysk sznurkiem, odpina z łańcucha i na tę jedną chwilę wyprowadza na zewnątrz.

Osiołek tu się urodził. Tu miał dożyć starości i odejść kiedyś w swojej obórce. Ale gospodarz sprzedaje gospodarstwo.

Stefan dostał wyrok. Rzeźnia.

Osiołek świdruje nas spojrzeniem na wylot. W oczach przerażenie i niemy krzyk. Wołanie o pomoc, które nie wyleci poza bramy podwórza.

Miało być inaczej, a wyszło – jak zwykle…
